Been quite awhile since I filled a hole in my Seated half collection -1847-O

Patience is surely the key for this series. This one fits the bill for my set just fine, graded PCGS AU-50. It's supposed to be a 'common' date, but I hardly saw any I liked.

Good looking coin. And really not a common date like most of the post 1853 O mints. Very challenging in choice unc so not surprised you had difficulty finding a decent XF/AU specimen. I'd bet over half of the surviving specimens are well cleaned. I like the 1857-0 as well too. A pretty hefty 2.6 MILL mintage on the 47-0 but also a fairly high attrition rate.
Very nice.
I like it.

That is an attractive coin.... very nice addition... Cheers, RickO
I love how original it looks. Great coin for sure
HAPPY COLLECTING
A very nice unmolested specimen.
patience and selectivity make for a better set...but you already know that. Well done
I had a hard time getting an 1847-O back in 2006 when Seated halves were much more available in XF-AU, and I ended up getting an AU coin in the mail from a dealer that has obvious hairlines on it. I was not happy, but guess what? I still haven't upgraded it.
+1 from what rhedden said...very nice coin!
Very wholesome piece. And it is a date that I do not own.

Looks like a very high end AU.....only a touch of wear. Original surfaces, too, Good job!!
Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍

Great coin. Thanks for sharing with us!

Great looking coin. No way a common date in higher grades. I used to own the only PCGS coin graded 65/ none higher and when I saw other uncirculated coins, they always seems luster-challenged.

Thanks for all the props! Of the O mints of the 1840's, I only lack the 1842-O (another 'common' date) and the 1845-O. I'm not doing the major varieties, just the date/mintmark set for now.
