So, if I am understanding you correctly, then you did nothing to 'enhance' the coin? If not, then I congratulate you. I tend to favor the 'look' of the coin as shown in the first images, but it is a nice coin in any event. I tried for several years to acquire an 1863-S half dime in high AU grade, and with the right eye appeal. Several dealers assisted me in my quest, and I finally located the right piece. While the 1863-S half dime is available, it is very difficult to locate in eye appealing quality.

Nice coin; would probably have a stronger market with light conservation, could grade choice Unc./58?
I always wonder about the history on coins like this. Gentleman saved it for years, then someone else gets it.
