Newp darkest toning 1881 cc gsa I have seen.

This GSA has an almost gun metal grey tone on the obv. but the luster comes through and gives it a great affect.
What do you think of it?

I've seen similar "gun metal" toning but it is kind of rare. And it's always full coverage oddly

Has a rim ding, but overall, I like it.... CC's, especially in the box, are a favorite.... Cheers, RickO

Not at all attractive in my eyes. There are so many attractively toned and so many untoned that this one falls down in marketability, IMHO..

The closest I have to something like that is this MS-65 1879-S in my collection. Reverse is white, the obverse is a lustrous grey with faint pink and light green here and there. Your example is tough to tell what the true colors are, looks like the white balance in the photo needs to be adjusted.

I like this kinda piece. Especially this date in a GSA holder. I happened to have sold an 81cc Gsa to a board member years ago. It was much cleaner as far as hits though. Would like to have it back. I would hope this has that kind of satiny luster mine had. But with the hits it might not. Besides the hits I'd ask how much if it was for sale. Most "Black Beauty's? that truly are actually have a nice luster and for the right people are very attractive. And there are more than some might think that like them. I have a Binion one that has great luster.

Many when in the light and moved around you can see some of the other colors that led up to this. EOM

Edit to add..... I see you did mention it has nice luster. Don't be disappointed as to some comments. Folks are spoiled by great photography these days. And no matter what you say they won't believe it unless the computer says so :). If they have the experience, and can appreciate something like this they will understand. Now, EOM. :)

    better one.

I can imagine the employees were looking at it way back when, wondering whether to body bag it or not.

Reminds me of an 1882-0CC GSA I have. The picture is nice to the coin, it looks worse in hand.
