Are BCW display slabs safe for long term storage?

Sorry if this is the wrong forum! I have a collection of old commemoratives that I have put into the BCW self slabs with foam inserts. While I was searching for label options I ran across some information that these could lead to toning issues.

Any thoughts on these or other home slab options? I was planning on moving my morgans and quarters into them too!

What is BCW? Black Coin World? If you are referring to black Coin World holders that are about the shape and size of old ANACS holders, they are perfectly suitable for long-term storage and I see no reason why anyone would question them. They are actually very nice and attractive holders. These inserts are flexible plastic rather than a foam, so I don't think I've properly identified your BCW acronym. I understand your use of an acronym in effort to save the time necessary to spell out whatever BCW stands for, but I don't think this approach was very effective.

  • Hello and thank you for the reply!

Unfortunately I don't have any other way to describe the name of the slabs as they are called BCW, so again I do apologize in not being effective. These are what I am trying to ask about

They're o.k. If you decide to use them, just keep in mind when you place your order that the slabs and the foam inserts are sold separately.

Thank you! Would you say I am not risking my coins to long term damage? Any other slabs you would recoomend?

I like them. The foam inserts are like the inserts in the old ANACS holders. I've had no problems with them but I can't guarantee you'll never have any issues with them. It's your call.

I like them as well. I just ordered a bunch a little while back and they are very nice. I love how they resemble the old ANACS slabs, which are probably my favorite TPG slab. I used to keep all my raw coins in Air-Tites, but I just didn't like how they stored. The BCW Display Slabs are very easy to store and organize. They are a winner in my book.

  • ok thank you everybody!

Yep... I use them... have quite a few coins stored in those slabs... seem to do well, have had them stored for ten years now.... Cheers, RickO

I have not had any problems with them except they take up more room and printing out the inserts a hassle. Now I prefer to keep raw coins in 2x2's in a Whitman 2x2 plastic box.

They have more then 1 type of insert. Those in the picture are more of a foam that I don't trust much for long term.
The hard plastic type of insert seem fine to me.
