Greedy Ebay is now cutting the ebay bucks program

Just received this email:
Starting on January 1, 2017 some new eBay Bucks changes will be taking effect and we're excited to share them with you. We want to make sure you're always in the know as we continue to improve and expand the program. We think these latest changes will make Bucks even more flexible and beneficial for all of our loyalty members.
Here is a list of the upcoming changes and new benefits:
• Base earnings are changing from 2% to 1%, now with more ways than ever to earn eBay Bucks.
• From car parts to copiers & you can now earn rewards for shopping in the Parts & Accessories and Business & Industrial* categories.
• Earn Bucks when you sell. We’ll be adding occasional promotions so you can also get rewarded when your items sell on eBay.**
• No more $5 minimum earn restrictions for redeeming—now you'll receive your rewards, no matter the amount.†;
• Sign up for promotional emails and get invites for special bonus offers.
For full terms and conditions of the program, click here.
Sincerely,
The eBay Bucks team

Dropping the base kind of sucks but I vaguely remember it might have started at 1% (???). In the beginning there wasn't a restriction on a minimum amount of ebay bucks required to redeem...that I'm sure I remember.
I guess this is a way to enhance earnings for the sellers which makes sense from their point of view...paying to add a bonus to the sellers (plus adding categories and removing the minimum for redemption) must require a cut somewhere (ie the buyers).
Balancing the budget so to speak--shifting the cost from one area to another instead of raising fees to cover the change? Of course, this is a business not a government so cutting the profit margin would not go over well with the shareholders.
I will miss those 8% bucks though.
The bonus offers will continue (i.e. 8% etc.) - look at the last bullet in the list.

Good point. Dropping from 2% to 1% made me think the 8% would go to 4% on those quadruple offers...but who is to say there won't be 8x special offers now that you mention it.
I seems that the plan is to split the 2% to provide 1% base to buyers and sellers. I would also expect to see the bonus offer system extended to sellers. I think that ebay has hit a brick wall in achieving the desired impact by offering more bucks to buyers. Many times I get the offers and cannot find anything that I want to buy even with the bonus considered. Too many relentlessly reposted items that nobody wants to buy.
Perhaps getting the sellers in on the action is intended to bring fresh material to the listings as well as make it more likely that sellers will successfully conclude 'best offer' sales.

Like that better if u get them for selling and no eBay bucks minimum.

..proceeds to cut the amount of Bucks I receive by half.
The special promotions aren't applicable to me either since I haven't gotten them in 2.5 years. Hooray.
Check out my iPhone app SlabReader!
Hope it will be easy to get bucks for selling, And if they keep the 8% and 10% coupons, it may indeed be better.
That said, getting only 1% will have zero effect influencing me on my buying
Not a dealer breaker for lower price coins. Bonus bucks for sellers?LOL bet internally ebay is forecasting lost sales due to its change
I cashed in pretty well when they tried giving ebay bucks for listings that were listed during the timeframe of the promotion and sold within 2 weeks(I think). I think for sellers it will be a promotional system just like the ebay bonus bucks. It was stilled capped at $100 per transaction and $500 per quarter.
I class this as greedy as it hasn't been long since they jacked up the cost of listings.
I will say I don't see how they can give 8-10% kickback on coins when I am only paying a sellers fee of 4.8%
"We're excited to tell you about this gentle kick to the nuts"
I haven't received an ebay bux promotion in a year or so??
I wish they would bring back that MSN thing from 7 or so years ago. That was real money. Seems like most things I buy get me zero so I live with the 60 bucks i get and go on. A year from now they will roll out the next version

These changes are all meant to maximize eBay's return, not the buyer's or seller's. You shouldn't be surprised as this is just a business move. Make your own changes as necessary and move on with your own buying or selling efforts. It just isn't something to fret over.
Looks like a move to add more incentives for selling on ebay (i.e. other than reducing fees). I wonder if they're seeing a decline in the number of sellers. I know many in my area use local facebook shops or craiglist now instead of ebay. I miss they days when you could earn bucks for bullion.
Let's make ebay bucks great again!
Most likely I will limit my purchasing to occasions when ebay bucks jump to 8%. My secondary account gets all the bonus ebay bucks offers.

Last I checked, they weren't a non-profit charitable organization.
Will continue to buy and sell there.
FeeBay has the same attitude toward customers as the airline industry.
Auction listings are a fraction of what they were years ago.
We're excited to share how we're going to hose you some more and make eBay even worse. Great!
Coin listings/sales certainly aren't comparable to 5 years ago but I wonder how much of that is related to the coin market in general and not ebay specifically?
I do like this bullet point: "• No more $5 minimum earn restrictions for redeeming—now you'll receive your rewards, no matter the amount." There have been many quarters that I had $3 or $4 in Bucks "lost" because I didn't meet their $5 threshold. Not a big deal but it probably amounted to nearly $50 over the duration of the program.
Well said ..smug Corporations seem to care little about customers/service anymore .. .Airlines in America .. the worst
Ebay listings much lower than past several years , now more recycled ,month after month crap with fewer auctions
Not sure how adjusting ebucks is an example of greed. I don't subscribe to the belief that we are entitled to the program (or really much if anything for that matter).

The most annoying element of the change is the Orwellian announcement, trying to characterize a 50% cut as an improvement. Nobody is dumb enough to believe that, except maybe those executives who have ruined eBay over the last few years.
Maybe competitors like Amazon will offer better incentives to snag customers.
From my understanding you will not always get them for selling.. just an OCCASIONAL selling promo. In other words, if you already sell, don't expect to see any offers. That is like my 2 buying accounts. The one I ALWAYS use never gets promos. The one I hardly use will get them.
I need a safe space after reading your post....I AM entitled
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
I have always looked on the e-Bay Bucks as a nice bonus. Hopefully the special offers will continue.
This is like at the grocery store when you see the "new Improved" 6 pack of something that used to come 8 to a pack.
The point is, ladies and gentleman, that greed, for lack of a better word, is good. Greed is right, greed works. Greed clarifies, cuts through, and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit. Greed, in all of its forms; greed for life, for money, for love, knowledge has marked the upward surge of mankind.
Let me know what ya takin ..LOL... sounds like it comes from LSD , circa 60s
Thank God we will to normalcy on Jan 20th, 2017
At least they are adding car parts. I think I bought more car parts than coin this year.

Well, different person have different definitions of normal.
The pardon is for tyrants. They like to declare pardons on holidays, such as the birthday of the dictator, or Christ, or the Revolution. Dictators should be encouraged to keep it up. And we should be encouraged to remember that the promiscuous dispensation of clemency is not a sign of political liberality. It is instead one of those valuable, identifying marks of tyranny.
