CAC sticker placement

jonrunsjonruns Posts: 1,197 ✭✭✭✭✭

I sent a coin to CAC which had been previously sticker-ed in a different holder...it came back with the CAC sticker on the left side...instead of the right...is this how they do it?

I remember growing up if you had an earring in your left ear it meant you were gay...then vice versa...then no one could remember which meant which...LOL...

Usually on the right. But I've seen them on the left if there's a certain label attribution or label text they don't want to cover up...and sometimes if there's an existing sticker on the right from somewhere else they'll go left. Got a pic?

In general they use the viewer's right on the slab, but if there were identifying text on the slab label at that position then I would assume they might choose another position.

I've only seen one with the sticker on the reverse!

"My friends who see my collection sometimes ask what something costs. I tell them and they are in awe at my stupidity." (Baccaruda, 12/03).I find it hard to believe that he (Trump) rushed to some hotel to meet girls of loose morals, although ours are undoubtedly the best in the world. Found the picture - in addition to the usual sticker on the obverse (placed center), it had this sticker on the reverse.

I have not seen a reverse CAC sticker before.... granted, I do not look for them, just seems I would have noticed. Cheers, RickO

Drats! No upgrade and that OGH looked sweet.

Too bad about the OGH. Unless the holder had been subsequently damaged, the best plan of attack might have been to send the coin in under the Reconsideration route.

Nice coin, I agree it's a shame to lose the old holder. :(

I wish PCGS would transfer the OGH Insert and gasket when they re-holder these coins...at least have an option for it.

If the insert doesn't match with the type of holder that it was originally used in then it raises the question of whether the slab/insert combo is real or not. Putting it underneath the new insert might be a nice gesture.

Thanks I see that now...FWIW I did a regrade vs a reconsideration as I have had better luck going that route...as a collector I'm interested in the coin now the holder...OGH vs current...makes no difference to me...

  • TomBTomB Posts: 22,066 ✭✭✭✭✭

I can understand and appreciate that as a collector the OGH might make no difference to you. However, to send it in as a regrade (assuming you wanted a higher grade) tells me that it isn't just the coin you are interested in, but what the holder says as well. Otherwise, there would be little incentive to send the coin in for regrade or reconsideration since the coin itself would not have changed.

Regardless, I always advise folks that virtually every coin that is bought for a collection is eventually sold and the retention of the OGH, in this case, might increase liquidity.

they likely place the sticker wherever it is least intrusive to your reading of the pertinent information on the TPG label
