1968-D and 1970-D Kennedys

SkyManSkyMan Posts: 9,493 ✭✭✭✭✭

As mentioned a couple of weeks ago when I posted my 1966 and 1967 Kennedys, I'm not really a Kennedy kind of a guy, but I decided to collect the 1964 - 1970 silver short set (8 pieces), which IMO make a good addendum to the Franklin series. Given the 5 extra "holes" in a Dansco Franklin album, I'm keeping the Kennedys I do have in my A & B Franklin Dansco albums. At this point I'm still looking for a decent 1965 and 1969-D. The images are by Bob Campbell, and I think he did an excellent job.

assembling a nice toned set of these dates is harder than it seems. probably the easiest and most readily available are the 1968-D and 1969-D. the three earlier dates can be tough because it sometimes isn't easy to distinguish between the Roll Coins and the SMS's that ere dumped into circulation. 1970-D's aren't found often out of the Set.

Actually, I've been having problems finding the '69-D in a decently toned condition. The '68-D I was at a dealer's table at a show when they bought a Kennedy album, and I was able to pick off the '68-D as soon as the seller walked away.

Both coins are very attractive. Finding a toned 1970 D half dollar is very unusual. Great job on finding and picking up these coins.

The 1970-D is phenomenal for the issue!

At first I thought your 1970D was a 1964 due to the toning. Nice one.

Beautiful 1970-D ! I can't recall seeing one like it---just the usual golden rim/yellow album toned coins.
That's a keeper for sure........unless you want to sell it? >:)
