Hi All,
When do you think the US Mint will start producing multi-colored coins, like Canada does with those Titanium coins?
Any input would be great.

Would they then be IMT (Intentionally Manufactured Tarnish)??? Or just MC (Mint Color). And what would it be called when the piece is eventually (or intentionally) affected by environmental factors? Would those be more desirable? Cheers, RickO
Coins are controlled by congress
I'm thinking the mint does not feel comfortable painting Congressionally mandated coins.
Some medals may have enough leeway to paint but are there enough every year to justify buying painting machines ?
Hopefully NEVER. I can't think of anything cheesier in numismatics. The U.S. Mint should concern themselves with what they were created for: producing coins for commerce.
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
The next grest mint experiment will be rose colored gold for the Breast Cancer commem. It's one thing to get a rose color in 14kt Jewelry, but higher fineness for a coin may be a sweet trick,

I hope not.
Mine ( US minted coins ) naturally get multi-colored with nose grease and improper storage. The mint just needs to keep minting.
Maybe they could mint 3D coins then we can all walk around the coin show floor with those funny 3D glasses.
I wanna see a curved football coin !
Sssshhhhhhh. Don't give them anymore ideas!
That one made me chuckle. I do like the baseball one though. Hasn't made it to my collection yet.

Generally I'm not a fan of colorized coins -- especially painted coins.
But I really like the Austrian Mint's silver-niobium series.
Colors by oxidation, not paint:

Some of these are quite interesting. I am not sure what the market is for them in the US market, but my hunch is that they will be harder sell here than in other countries.
