C'mon Man!

Thought I'd start a coin related thread based on the football analyst's version of C'mon Man. Post any ridiculous / funny / odd experiences or observations in your coin collecting history. Please end it with "C'mon Man!" Don't you hate it when someone has obviously cooked a coin in an oven to give it a ridiculous toning and put it on Ebay at an astronomical price? Doesn't that just make you laugh out loud? C'mon Man!

    My Grandfather bowled with Mel in Vero Beach, FL back in the day, and was offered a chance to invest..."Pops" declined....I'll have to ask my Dad- but I believe it was late '60's, early '70's when this occurred. Would have been nice to inherit a bit of the Atocha, so respectfully to "Pop's"...C'Mon Man!!!

    I have heard from a collector who lived in Florida at the time of Mel Fisher's ventures that most of the investors lost their entire investment, and the investors on the projects that did hit big were often paid off in coins at vastly inflated values or otherwise cheated.

    If you can't for the life of you find ANYTHING else in the world to prop a coin up with for a photo, at least make sure you get a manicure or at a bare minimum, clip your "just dug a pound of spuds" lookin' fingernails.. C'MON MAN!!

    MAN! You hit the nail right on the head with that statement LOL....I can not stand to see fingers in coin images. There's one seller in particular that will ALWAYS have his nasty thumb in every image he takes. C'mon MAN!!!!

    How about the non-collector who "shines up" their silver coins with Brillo pads or silver polish before they try to sell them? Or those that crack out "detail" coins to, without remorse, resell as raw gems? C'mon Man!

    Sellers that juice photos of semi-pl morgans to make them appear to have 20"++++++ UDMPL mirrors and all are either raw or graded without even a PL designation. C'mon man!

    This morning, people begging for "coins" for food outside the grocery store, texting or playing games on their $600 I phone,
    Sell your phone, buy some groceries [don't go to Burger King ! ] and eat pretty good for 2 or 3 months.

    Gave them three ones and got 98 cents in change, I like getting coins but I wonder how many people say "keep the change" ?

    Totally agree! I see this all the time. Some people are so naïve to fill their pockets. Also, it takes away from the real people that are in need. They should be ashamed of themselves. C'mon Man! :'(

    when you are at a show and you see a coin you want, but the dealer is gone. you come back later just in time to find someone else buying that very same coin! c'mon man!

    So about 15 years ago I was at Long Beach looking for a silver dollar of my moms birth year and I found one and asked the guy how much and he said twenty five..............Now Peace Dollars are not my series and I had previously bought BU 22's and 23's for 25 bucks.................:D any how in my extreme ignorance I figured that the BU 34S was 25 bucks........................As I slinked away in numismatic shame, I thought to myself............C'mon Man

    The number of small cent postings on Ebay went from 9-11,000 10 years ago to a high yesterday of over 163,000 !!!
    I still can not find any better picks than I did 10 years ago.....C'mon Man!

    A dealer wins a roll of slider SLQs at a small local auction. Another dealer who inspected the coins before the auction is surprised that the winning dealer would pay that much. Says to the winner, "Hey, you know those coins aren't Unc, don't you?"

    Winner says, "Well, they're Unc now!"

    C'mon, man!

    New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.
