Exonumia! Re: The Master List - Enough Links & Interest for an Exonumia Section? (among others)

There could be a lot more sections to the Master list.
To start:
are there enough links and enough interest for an Exonumia section?
post links if you have them. (and links do not have to be totally new dealers not listed in other sections. each section is unique in its purpose. So, a dealer or other web site can can be listed multiple sections (ex: a dealer listed in both the us & world & even the bullion sections))

You are correct... I never thought of the exonumia field.... and I like that area of collecting too. Great idea... Cheers, RickO
bump for some help with names to include
besides auctions, what sites would the forumites recommend for exonumia shopping?
Some names that come to mind for Exonumia:
I think there should be one.
TD
Jim Levine of Presidential immediately comes to mind
www.brunkauctions.com
the above should read: Joe Levine
www.brunkauctions.com
I'm hard pressed to come up with more names. There used to be a lot more exonumia dealers than there are now. :-(
Why did many leave the business? Was it due to lack of business, or something else?
My impression is that most of them aged out and retired, by choice or not (Steve Tannenbaum).
Of the folks mentioned so far, Joe is the only one I'd consider a generalist. He's been running auctions since 1969, so my simple math says he's not so young either.
Jeff Shevlin specializes in So-Called Dollars, almost exclusively.
Steve Hayden specializes in Civil War Tokens, not quite exclusively but certainly not with Joe's breadth.
John Kraljevich is probably the youngest of the bunch and has an incredible breadth of knowledge, but his interests are clearly in the older stuff. I can't think any time that he's done anything with art medals, and very little with tokens, for example. Plus he's an incredible writer and that eats a lot of his time also. Which I don't fault him for, absolutely not.
The other folks sell exonumia from time to time. I wouldn't call them "exonumia dealers".
I suppose you need to add Stack's by default, and maybe Heritage. They also sell exonumia from time to time. You can tell from the numbers that it isn't their focus, though.
There are maybe another dozen or two exonumia dealers active on the show circuit. That doesn't help if you're not also on the show circuit, and it doesn't help when you're making a list of web sites.
Absolutely! And especially Civil War tokens. Anyone know of a good dealer in these?
Even though I'm don't sell exonumia, I'm an avid and passionate penny exonumia collector! I suppose one day if I ever tire of collecting these fascinating pieces I may become a dealer in them.

Cunningham Exonumia.
A list would be nice. Anthony S. Kim aka Smallforest published a quantitative study some years ago, but his website does not appear to be valid any longer. The advertisers in that publication included Scarsdale Coin, David F. Schmidt, H. Joseph Levine and Cunningham Exonumia.
I oppose including Cunningham Exonumia in this list. Great guy, totally reasonable to include him in a different list of "exonumia dealers at shows". The website has no content, though, and hasn't for years.
I still have your store token, but I can no longer locate the business card from the creator. I would add them to the list if you can provide the maker's to me.
I would include Steve Davis (Numismatic Auctions, LLC). His catalogued (web and print) sales always include a dedicated portion of exonumia.
Fred Holabird is another resource for exonumia. The National Token Collector's Society has hosted Holabird sales multiple times.

This is the case with many exonumia dealers it seems.
The award for worst website ever has to go to Paul Bosco though.
Thanks for the add ...I would say that MTs would be my greatest specialty in this area. (Magicians Tolens) with SCD and then just some other interesting pieces varied across the wide range and I guess art bars as well.
I can add those to the "Information / Specialties" Section
but with pictures & pricing
added
(for other pages -> if not pricing, needs pictures and at least a note about pricing & way to contact for pricing)
Thanks MsMorrisine! I'll check it out.
