Hagerstown, MD Coin Show report
The Hagerstown, MD coin show this Friday and Saturday was very slow, as far as turnout. For the 2 days it barely broke 200 attendees. Fortunately, the dealers did "alright" but not spectacular, with everybody earning enough to pay their table fees, travel, food, lodging, etc. ANACS was very happy with his submissions. One of the high dollar coin dealers said his show was made Saturday, but Friday was slow. You would think gold and silver would be selling, but I think the collectors are waiting for the falling prices to stop. As always, Morgan dollars, collector gold, key dates and collector coins were the sellers. I bought a small collection of mostly junk silver and turned it immediately. Of course, I bought 11 one ounce silver art bars and a richly obverse toned Peace dollar. I can hear you saying now it isn't worth mentioning without pictures, and, I will post some pictures of it tomorrow. Everything went smoothly and we had all the tables, cases, etc that I brought packed and placed back into the garage by 6pm. Oh, I almost forgot to say it started to rain around 4pm and then turned to light sleet for a short period of time.

What is the normal turnout for this event?
This is only the third time we have promoted this show. The other 2 times the attendance was around 500 each show. But the good news was we had 5 new families come to the show. Two of the families were older couples, one was a young couple and two had several pre-teen kids with them. Hopefully, the attention given to them, along with the dealers willing to talk and provide information will keep them collecting.
Thanks for the report. Glad to hear the sales were good... not all shows are doorbusters... Cheers, RickO
