A friend of mine recently suffered a residential burglary and about 300 pieces from his "Daniel Carr" collection were stolen. This occurred in Northern Colorado. There is a suspect, but he has not been seen since the time of the theft. If I can get a list of the stolen items, I will post it here. Please be on the lookout for suspicious activity involving the sale of a large collection of Daniel Carr, Moonlight Mint, and/or modern Clark Gruber items.

These should be easy to spot.
Sounds like a good friend, and that's awful.
I should learn how to spell awful already.
Give me a name and phone number of the police officer in charge of the investigation and I will run it on the coin dealer network.

Ran preliminary heads up. Give me a list of highlights and the contact info and will rerun.

So sad.
I hope they catch the scum bag. I hate hearing stories like this. Please do keep us posted along with the list of stolen items.
Alert the "weed" stores in Colorado. Someone dumb enough to steal easily identifiable items like that may just try and spend them there.
Sad to hear of another robbery, hope they get caught.
Double nasty, since it sounds as if it was an acquaintance.....sure hope the culprit is apprehended with the goods. Cheers, RickO
But won't that be an irony - someone who doesn't know what they have, getting caught trying to pass tokens that are not legal tender.
Wow Dan .. I'm so sick to check the forum this morning and see this thread title .
Please have the party pm or email me with more specifics. I could be offered the items by chance or I may notice something that doesn't seem right as I've been tracking your items for many years now on the internet .
I hope it wasn't our mutual friends collection though I'm sick for whoevers collection was pilfered .
I hate a damned thief and I have a strong feeling that this crime will be solved as most of your items will immediately draw attention.
So sickening !
that really sucks. i hope they are recovered.
Please tell me they were insured!
i hope they perp or perps get a good long stretch in the jail house.
I hope the perpetrator is caught and all items are returned, unharmed, to the owner.
Oh crap. They should bring back chain gangs. Some times the only thing that works is a deterrent.
100% Positive BST transactions
Someone probably had inside knowledge of this accumulation/collection of Carr collectibles. Some people...pitiful.

10-4 ABSOLUTELY !!
I don't think most people realize how much money we are talking about here ?
This is a major felony charge way in excess of $25k . The person involved is truly sick over this loss as it's more than money as collectors of something specific as this, it took years and many hours to put together
I have been informed that one of the stolen coins has already turned up on eBay.
I have examined the pictures from the original owner and compared them to the eBay listing.
I have no doubt they are the same coin (a medal, actually).
It was being offered by the owner of a coin shop. I believe that owner to be reputable. They have been contacted and the eBay listing was cancelled. There are some questions remaining, however.
I don't have additional details at this point. I do not yet know the status of the other coins. I assume more information will come in time and I will post any such updates here.
Glad to hear the coins have started to show up and are being offered by what seems to be a reputable dealer.
Hopefully the collector will be made whole and the thief will be caught!
I hate reading about collections lifted, I would be devastated, hopefully this is resolved quickly.
Dan, just curious, how well written were the descriptions of the former eBay items? Did the seller know, accurately describe, what they had?

Northern Colorado? I am in Fort Collins and had not heard about this.
A few more coins have been located. It appears that the thieves sold stolen items at more than one shop along the Colorado "Front Range". There is video from at least one location. As per local regulations, at one location the seller was required by the shop to present their ID and the information was recorded.
That's great news and hopefully they can recover the rest . Most thieves are not too bright and I had a good feeling it would only be a matter of time . I hope he gets some more good news this evening
Is there a link to the picture of the thief?
Good news the collection is starting to show up at several shops.
Hope the thief gets what they deserve.
Were any of these metals in an anacs holder by chance?
Not that I know of, but I don't know all the details yet.
PS:
In addition to the "Daniel Carr" items stolen there was an Engelhard poured "loaf" style 10-oz silver bar with the serial number P002655.
I haven't seen one yet. Maybe later on there will be.
I will make a note.
Thieves are not know for being the sharpest tool in the tool box. Hopefully this will lead to quick apprehension.
