Trade Dollar Variety Attribution Question 1875 S / CC

ElKevvoElKevvo Posts: 4,120 ✭✭✭✭✭

I have an PCGS AU 58 chop marked 1875 - S and to my eye it looks like it might be a S / CC. It is a Type 1 reverse and I think (it is faint) I can see the CC mintmark based on what photos I have viewed online. So...if someone was to send in a 1875-S that was a S / CC and did not ask for an attribution I am guessing their coin would straight graded...is this correct? Sorry but have never sent in any varieties! Thanks...

PM me or post an image and I'd be able to tell you!

You are correct in your assumption regarding PCGS. I think NGC would attribute it automatically.

This is the mint mark location for the S / CC

Here are a couple of shots of the reverse. Sorry for the semi bad photos...I don't have a good setup. Anyway I did compare the MM location with a 1876-S that I have and on the 1875 the MM is more to the left but does not look as far as your example. The scratch to the right of the MM is on the holder. I started looking at the reverse because of the die crack that runs from about the 9.00 position through to the R in Dollar. Thoughts?

I agree with Stealer...not the S/CC variety.... Cheers, RickO
