End of strip defective plan?
Pretty dramatic. End strip sound right for what little I know.
Looks real to me. End of strip sounds right.
Struck on a large copper fragment. Looks totally legit. Nice error!

It's a genuine error, and cool.
Is the 08 Indian posted or did I miss something

I'm not sure that I would classify it as being struck on an end-of-strip blank, however I would consider it a defective planchet. It appears to have been broadstruck as well.
Let's see some more of these errors!
I started playing with them at 530 am on my day off and at 2 when home, Monday morning more.
...and more of the interesting fakes, also!
Congrats! What a find! That looks really neat!
Wow, really cool dramatic error.
Nice job.
That cent is certainly unique.... cannot recall seeing an error cent like that before....or even close. Cheers, RickO
I seem to recall reading that back when the Mint was a bit more conscientious about quality control they used to snip a piece out of the corner of the leading edge of a coil for testing before running it through the blanking press. This is the supposed origin of a few "square clips" known to exist.
This is different. I could possibly see it as a test cut taken from a thick coil received from an outside vendor that was then rolled down to finished thickness and then blanked, the rolling distorting the shape of the cutting, but this is sheer speculation on my part.

It looks broadstruck and struck on scrap, it doesn't look like an assay clip or even like the result of anything to do with the blanking process. Cool coin.

Fun waiting for Fred.
Good morning' all - just saw this thread this morning.
I believe it's on a piece of scrap, and although Tom made a case
for why the reverse part isn't a clear 'cut' as the obverse (roller distortion
of the cut strip area), based on what I see, I'd say scrap over a cut piece.
jmo - interesting error coin.
