Maybe the PCGS registry can incorporate some of the inventorying benefits of the NGC registry software.

Funny that I received a request from the NGC registry to remove a PCGS coin from my Walker registry. When I auctioned off my Walkers at the ANA, I retired my PCGS set but not my NGC set.
To be honest, I had forgotten that I even had a registry set at NGC as nearly all of my coins were and are PCGS.
And I agree with Roadrunner -NGC may grade higher in the aggregate than PCGS but that doesn't make NGC inconsistent.

This remains a hobby about coins... Not holders, stickers or registry sets. I don't think that is a difficult concept to understand and yet we have this nonsense to deal with... Really?

I have both NGC and PCGs coins in inventory. Price for Sell is a function of cost +. the relative TPG MV, CW Trends, and Dealer Pricelists. I have no interest in switching one over to the other and incurring the associated expense. I use the inventory managers of the two to recap these items. For the few ANACs and ICG items I have they are simply listed individually on my spreadsheet with their relative subtotals.

I consider money for any grading expenses part of the inventory basis of that particular coin.

Smart business move for PCGS. May end up not being so smart for NGC.

I have crossed PCGS to NGC and NGC to PCGS on occasion depending on the series. They don't always transfer (both directions).

Jack, GSA's don't count! Check out any similar date Proof Indian Cent in PCGS PR67RD vs NGC PR67RD or a Middle or Late Date Large Cent in PCGS 66RB vs NGC 66RB and you will most often see vast differences in prices realized. Not to mention early Lincoln Cents in PCGS 67RD vs NGC 67RDwhere the differences are even more dramatic. Seated and Barber MS and PR type in high grade and Bust Halves in 63 to 66 show similar striking results.

I buy lots of nice NGC graded coins. They always end up in PCGS holders. I believe that the vast majority of "nice for the grade" NGC coins end up or will eventually end up in PCGS plastic. Auction prices will tell you all you need to know about the NGC brand.

You're right, many do. Problem is many have started ending up in PCGS slabs with a point or two grade inflation because of "purdy toning".

And you clearly don't collect any coins outside of the niche of USA coins. Auction prices and collector preference for non-USA coins will tell you the exact opposite of what you have stated...NGC is the clearly preferred service there.

    Can you elaborate on this?

brg5658, Point well taken. But, this is the U.S. Coin Forum, not the World and Ancient Coin Forum. I would hardly refer to a collector of U.S. coinage as a "niche" collector nor would I refer to a collector of World Coins or Ancients as a "niche" collector either. The world of non U.S. coins is way outside of my area of expertise. I need to ask John of CRO whether he prefers his World coins in PCGS or NGC holders and whether he sees a trend in how well they sell compared to the other service.
