Yeap purchased a coin from him in Gettysburg a few years ago. Nice fella and seemed to have a good eye for grading. Condolences to his family and friends for their loss.

Very sad. Yes, he was crusty. But he had a good eye and had the collector in mind.

Very sorry to learn of Ira's passing. I knew him for perhaps 25 years or more, and bought several half dimes from him in that time. 'Crusty' perhaps describes one side of his demeanor, but he had a sense of humor hidden well below that crusty surface. I learned early on that he was not one for negotiating prices, but once that was understood we were able to come to terms on several coins over the years. My condolences to his family and friends. He will be missed by all who knew him.

I'm sorry to hear that, he had some nice coins, was one of a old fashioned breed. He had a nice Bust half at the Garden State last year in spring I had my eye on and was looking to buy next time I saw him. He told me he finally had a phenomenal credit rating.

I will miss him at the Westchester show around Thanksgiving.

by crusty I meant that in a good way .... like a original early gold piece :)

Sad to hear. He was a fixture at many of the club shows on the East Coast.
