I usually decide the answer to that question -- worth grading? -- according to the coin's likely value. What I could sell it for.

A decent MS62RD in PCGS plastic might bring $70. While this coin might grade a notch higher it has negative eye appeal and would be difficult to sell for much more.

So, no, I don't think it's worth spending $50 on shipping and grading.

Nice coin for an album..... not sure it is worth grading....Cheers, RickO

    Worth it for grading?
    Not in my opinion.

If you had a filler on a submission, then you could send it in, but it likely won't get any benefit (cost vs price increase) being in plastic than being raw for you.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

    Agree with above statements.
It depends on what you've got in it.
If you're in it for basically nothing, then I guess it's worth it.
My other question for you is: are you grading it for your collection or for selling?
If for your collection, I see little benefit. If for selling, maybe, again depends on your cost.
If you're a seller, I'd sell it as is on eBay or BST or send it along with some other similar type material to Great Collections.
They'll do all the work and charge you $12 a coin to have PCGS take a look.

It does NOT depend what you have in it. It's a sunk cost and it's irrelevant. The coin is not worth grading.

    Yes it DOES depend.
If you bought the coin in a lot of 10,15,20 coins and already sold those for a profit, you have nothing in the coin.

Unless you got the coin for free, you wouldn't be able to recover your costs so no.

I wouldn't. THE way I see these images, it looks like there's rub on the cheek of the obverse and rub on the ribbon of the lower part of the wreath on the reverse.I'd say AU58.

This is a well-known problem in behavioral economics. What you are describing is a form of loss aversion. (If you have money in the coin, you want to avoid selling for a loss). While this a universally felt emotion, it is not strictly economically rational. Please look up the work of Daniel Kahneman if you are curious to learn more.

I'd just put it in an album or flip and move on. It's a nice coin to have raw.

Not worth grading. A good coin for an album set.
