Which hotel would you book in Baltimore for the next (Spring) show?

I just worked out my schedule for next year and the Spring Baltimore is likely in the works. I haven't decided yet to drive or take the train, but for the sake of argument (and the poll) plan on a car to park and will likely be carrying a bit of coins/bullion for trading (a large sum for me and I'm trying to minimize 'target'.

I have been to the Lord Baltimore that was kind of nice, but I hated the valet parking (for the love of Pete, please teach your valet people how to drive a manual transmission....) and if I'm carrying something of value I'd rather minimize the walking.

Comments welcome!

I believe the Hilton is actually connected to the Convention Center, so you wouldn't have to venture outdoors. In the spring, we can get pretty nasty weather... also, a consideration if you're carrying large sums of money...

I stayed the Sheraton for the first time after many years at the Holiday Inn. It too is connected to the convention center although you do have to go outdoors. The rooms were nice, and we liked being much closer to the Inner Harbor. Morton's Steakhouse was a treat too, and it's attached. The breakfast is better and is a better value at the Holiday Inn, although the eggs Benedict I had one morning were quite good.

I won't be back for another year. The Winter ANA is going to be in Orlando this year, and I go to Summer FUN instead of the Summer Baltimore. The main thing I'll miss will be the Orioles games. They were a lot of fun, and you could buy good seats ... unlike the situation in Boston where you can't buy seats at all except from scalpers.

Well, not large by a lot of people's standards, but enough that I'd hate to be too much of a target  And, if it's more trading stuff, then it's a bit to drag around (plus a book or two, maybe my type set album...I refuse to drag a suitcase along). Last time I went I took a box of about 28 coins to get glamour shots so I REALLY didn't like dragging that around or worrying about it.

    Covered connection sounds nice!

For the just concluded November show, we stayed at the Days Inn. It was a much improved place, dog friendly and with a in-room safe. Self-parking, pool. Very close to the convention center. Our rate was $119/night. We've also stayed at the Holiday Inn, one block farther away, with similar details and rate.

How does one get a hater to stop hating?

    +1
I stayed at the Holiday Inn last time and the Sheraton last week, it was much more convenient. The rooms were also much better and the little club/breakfast lounge on the 15th floor was nice.

If you take the Amtrak, the train station is a little distance and a not-so-touristy neighborhood from the convention center, and although there is public transportation, I would take Uber or a cab down to the Inner Harbor if carrying coins. There is a local train line with a stop near the Hilton and the convention center.

The Hilton is very nice, but pricey. If you are an Hhonors gold or platinum member, they have a nice members' lounge on the top floor overlooking the ballpark.

I'm probably going to drive. It'll be a drag but then I can stop at the Navy Exchange in Bethesda on my way home.

I am a HHonors member and Hyatt (IIRC) offered a military rate even for old retired people.

THanks for the comments so far everyone!

The Sheraton connected to the Convention Center also has a "private" free parking deal -- but you have to push them a little to get it.

I always stay at the Hilton. It's nice, clean, modern and many rooms overlook Camden Yards. It is also connected via covered walkway to the Convention Center so that in inclement weather you need not worry.

I always take the light rail both ways from/to Penn Station. Yes, it looks seedy, but I've never had a problem. Most of the passengers are too drugged up to care about you.... :)
