Baltimore Report (with a couple coin pictures)

I arrived Friday morning at 10 am with my father riding co-pilot. Baltimore is a 5hr drive for us and allows plenty of time to catch up and talk coins and other various subjects at length. Dad is in the stages of upgrading a morgan set with examples that better match the feel and look of the set as a whole. He had 3-4 AU better date keys on his sheet with a about the same amount of common MS examples. Baltimore is a buying show for me. I brought nothing to sell. I was on the lookout for nice branch gold, attractive type priced right, and Morgans that pop. The branch gold was there but no examples met the quality while maintaining the price I felt comfortable with so I struck out in that department. The one type coin that I did purchase was an attractive golden toned Pilgrim half housed in a 64 rattler. It had the look and the value was there. Exposed to an endless sea of morgans I did manage to find about a dozen examples that I felt could be easy material to move or hang onto if I felt like doing so. Four of the morgans came from the same dealer and are housed in 63 rattlers. Nothing special / common date bright white coins but very attractive for the grade. I found two nice toned coins from Brian (the Brian that loves vams). He is always pleasant and easy to deal with. The first coin I paid a heavy premium for the color and is a housed in a small white anacs slab. The second coin was a better late date San Fran CAC'ed with color. I felt like little premium was added to that coin and would result in a easy flip if I chose to do so. At another table I sat for close to an hour and looked through box after box of slabbed gold, type, and morgans. I was able to find two nice pcgs coins at a price that worked for me. The 1902-s pictured below is one of those coins. The Pilgrim half came from John Watson's table where I was able to also get 2 nice attractive NGC soap slab morgans. At about 4:30 I was cooked....stick a fork in me i'm done. I located dad and we went outside to rest a bit before starting the long drive home. He was able to find a nice 95-s in P53 at 50 money (Don't know how I missed that one myself) along with 4 other P graded coins. Another notable purchase of his was an excellent 81-cc in p64. It was super clean for the grade and was the right coin in the right holder at the right price. Overall it was a productive and fun trip. I have done much better and worse in past....but I would still give this one a B+ grade.

Thank you for the show report.
Congratulations on your new purchases.
Sounds like worth while trip for you and your father.
That is one SWEET 80 S!
I really like the 80-S too...looks gorgeous and the slab is awesome. I can see that one easily in the $250+ ballpark.
Thank you. That was about the range I figured it at as well.
Here are a couple more quick photos of the 80-s obv and rev along with the Pilgrim p64 rattler obv.
Thanks for the report, the great pics, and sharing the nice coins you acquired!
