1892 Barber quarter question. Pic added

I picked up an 1892 Barber quarter today, I'd grade it G4, but it has an internal die chip between star 1 and the rim. The die chip is about as wide as the star and raised to the same height.

I've done some looking, but don't have a better resource than here.

Is this a recognized variety?

    Not the best photo, but I think it's a
    flattened star, and not a die chip.

    (flattened from being hit at that star long ago)

    IMO, based on what I can see when I enlarge it.

    It looks like a die chip to me, These are fairly common and has no special value. Some people do collect Barber Quarters by die variety, but die state variations are too numerous to garner any interest.

    I love them Barber Halves.....

    I agree with Fred.... looks like a deformed star from a hit...then smoothed through commerce. Cheers, RickO
