Overused term but this game is epic.

So glad I'm not invested in either team.

This game should already be won, and we should be celebrating the new year AC000000?. Maddon should never have taken out Hendricks so soon.

Whew. That was not good on my nerves. Good job to both teams for never giving up. I would've preferred a much easier victory as seemed to be the case earlier, but a w is a w. Knew I wanted the cubs to turn bases loaded in the 10th to more than a 2 run advantage.... but it turned out to be just enough. Kudos to keets for his good sportsmanship. We very nearly snatched defeat from the jaws of victory, which would've been classic Cubs. Now though it can be a classic but in a pleasant sense.

I hope the Cubs make the series again next year, but if the Indians do as well I don't think I could take it. Chapman was gassed at the end, but he had done his job getting us to this point. Glad the Cubs bats woke up in time for the last 3 games...

I think that's about enough rambling.

  • EstilEstil Posts: 7,058 ✭✭✭✭

Hey, the Back to the Future 2 prediction of CUBS WIN WORLD SERIES was only off by one year, not bad eh? And back then they would've indeed thought "over Cleveland" would've been just as strange. And if Doc Brown thought it was absurd that Ronald Reagan would be President in 1985...how about having that Apprentice guy about to become President-Elect this Tuesday????? This is one improbable year indeed!

PS: Maybe it's best they didn't win the championship at Wrigley...if what the fans of the Miracle Mets did in 1969 are any indication (they won all three championships at Shea)...well, let's just say all those renovations they did to Wrigley (well they playing field anyway) might've gone to waste!!!

I can only imagine the chaos at wrigley right now as is. I'm north part of the city, but not that close. Well, it was a heck of a weird game. Rain delay was a cherry on top. And it all came out ok! Btw, had the rain not let up for hours - would the game have been put off until same time tomorrow night? Best not to think about it. Brain not ready.

I didn't! Was actually following game on box score updates on the web, a special kind of torture! Looking forward to watching replays tomorrow. I would be surprised beyond belief if MLB doesn't release and market a playoff recap video. If they don't, bootleg copies will be available at chicago card shows for years and years and years...... or maybe the kids will only do torrent downloads nowadays.

    • a million billion trillion zillion. That this team could win with so many mistakes, that Cleveland could come back after seeming to be out . A rain delay! it's the morning after and I am profoundly sad, me and my girlfriend went through the motions this morning as though there's a pall hanging over the house. this one hurt --- bad. it is a testament to the character of the Team and the manager that the Indians fought through what they fought through to get here and came so close.

--- I will say this much, the Chicago Cubs appear safe for several years. if the young nucleus of position players is locked down there should be no shortage of pitchers who opt to play in Chicago.
--- I wish I could say the same for my Cleveland Indians. as the epitome of a Small Market Team it takes us longer to arrive at this point, harder to keep the players we have and sometimes impossible to coerce players to come here(think Lucroy). we are sort of safe with pitching but I see 5-8 position players we will lose or release and another 1-2 who are nearing the end of their playing time. the Indians saving grace is their farm system, we can develop talent but that takes time.

BTW, did I say I was sad?? :'(

Great for the Cubs and Chicago. 2 thoughts- Joe Maddon isn't a genius after all and this series is the classic example of why you don't throw in the towel at 1-3. Just earlier this year the Cavs came from 1-3 to win.

BTW, he says to tell you there is a chance to win the series after being down 3 games to 1 after all, lol..

One thing Mr. Maddon has not been labeled is "genius". He is a player's manager and something akin to a drinking buddy to many of those guys. I will forever laugh, chuckle, smirk at anyone who thinks they can generalize this man's accomplishments by one game in which he was required to use 25 exhausted athletes vs. another guy's 25 exhausted athletes and his just happened to be one run better. They're even fellas. Each team scored 27 runs in 7 games. Each team competed to the level at which none of us could ever fathom. I'm as impressed with the Indians as anything done by the team I support and love the most. This was an amazing contest to watch and for now I'm glad they're done, but soon I know that I'll find myself thinking that it would be so cool to see them play more games. After watching Bryant drag his championship barely walking ripped pants ass across the field after an interview, I know that won't be necessary. He, along with every other participant, left it all out there.

Yes, 103 wins and three postseason series victories. More managers should try to let their clubs win in spite of them, lol..

The question is though, do you still feel sorry for Cubs fans?

BTW Jon Lester pitched fantastic last night sans the wild pitch.

The horrible home plate umpiring ( both sides) did actually help escalate the drama.

The unsung hero has to be Chapman. Dude's arm resembled jello in the 8th, yet he somehow managed to escape that inning tied and (borderline miraculously) was able to get three consecutive outs the very next. Although he had been used up like a two-bit you know what and thus reduced to chucking as many sliders as fastballs, the guy never lost his will to live and gave his team a chance to win. Mad props to him, and now he can spend the entire offseason trying to reattach his arm.

When he trotted out for the 9th I hide under the covers. I was thinking that this is just Maddon being stubborn. I thought Chapman's arm was going to come off with the release of the baseball in the 9th.

How about Montgomery? I believe that was his first career save.

Read an article today that the team is phasing out their famous chief wahoo logo. And the Indians name could be next. That would be sad.

IT CAN'T BE A TRUE PLAYOFF UNLESS THE BIG TEN CHAMPIONS ARE INCLUDED
