I use them and they have been great! Better interest rate than any local banks, and always great customer service. I have a local bank too, but keep most cash in Ally for the interest rate.

I am not familiar with Ally bank... Living in a small mountain town, we have one bank and one credit union.... we did have another bank, but it closed after the third robbery....strange, the other bank never gets robbed. Cheers, RickO

  • Ally is new name for GMAC.... after General Mtrs. went under.

I have been banking at Ally for a few years and have nothing but good things to say from my experience. I still use a local bank for business and the relationship.

Kind of a cool promotion. Things I wonder:

    • What is a legal mechanism to get them into circulation without being guilty of counterfeiting or passing non-money as money? Dropping them on the ground and leaving the circulation part to someone else?
    • When will the first redeemed or expired lucky penny show up on the secondary market?
    • Will a TPG be in touch with this bank to make special holders for the redeemed coins so that they can better sell them for Obscene Profit™, recovering some of the costs of the promotion?
    • Will other banks follow suit?
