Finally ran the last part of the collection through CAC. What a difference 8 years makes...

1 1939 Dime Mercury MS66FB Exceeded
2 1939-D Dime Mercury MS67FB Passed
3 1939-D Dime Mercury MS67FB Passed
4 1939-D Dime Mercury MS66FB Not CAC
5 1939-D Dime Mercury MS66FB Passed
6 1939-D Dime Mercury MS67FB+ Passed
7 1939-D Dime Mercury MS66FB Passed
8 1939-S Dime Mercury MS65FB Passed
9 1940-S Dime Mercury MS66FB Passed
10 1940-S Dime Mercury MS66FB Not CAC
11 1941-S Dime Mercury MS67FB Not CAC
12 1942 Dime Mercury MS66FB Passed
13 1943-D Dime Mercury MS66FB Exceeded
14 1945-S Dime Mercury MS66FB Passed
15 1949-S Half Dollars Franklin MS65FL Passed
16 1950 Half Dollars Franklin MS65FL Passed
17 1952-S Half Dollars Franklin MS65FL Not CAC
18 1959 Half Dollars Franklin MS65FL Not CAC
19 1960-D Half Dollars Franklin MS65FL Not CAC
20 1887-O Dollars Morgan MS64 Not CAC

All of the dimes, except for the 1942, were purchased off of ebay in the 30 days leading up to the submission. 3 were older holders, the rest were freshly graded. I suspect that one of the dimes did not pass due to a retained lamination flap. I was curious to see if it would.

The Franklins were the first set that I started working on as an adult. Bought all of these from tnfc around 8 years ago. Had no idea how to evaluate coins. I did not think they had much of a chance. Two of the most common stickered, the rest did not. I am chalking it up to tuition and keeping them to remind me of the cost of ignorance.

Thirteen out of twenty passed/exceeded is better than average.

Two goldies out of twenty? Pretty darn good!

    Do you have any images?

If you send the coins which didn't get the sticker to PCGS and ask for "REGRADE", you might get the sticker if they downgrade, next time you send them to CAC for another look. On that note, I enjoy your successes from afar.

I'm not sure that a "retained lamination flap" is a criterion for automatic CAC rejection. I have a half dime with such a lamination that is in a gold-stickered holder.

When I saw it had not passed, I called CAC and asked if they could have a grader send me a note explaining what it was that held the coin back, so the lamination is just my guess. Unfortunately the coin had been boxed up and was at the PO already when I called so they said I could send it back with a future submission and get an explanation. Here is the coin

Here is another that did not pass. Upon closer inspection of the Trueview I can see a substantial hit on the jaw. Might have been missed at PCGS? Ti was going to ask CAC for details, but I don't feel the need at this point.

Here are some that did get green

I have an appointment with Todd P at Baltimore to get three more boxes of coins imaged. I can show pics of the recent gold beans then.

As for the Franklins, I am not really motivated to do anything about them. I like having reminders around to keep me on the straight and narrow.

From the truviews, looks like a nice set of Mercs.

Is that true? PCGS will reassess their GUARANTEED grade on the basis of a failure to ...sticker?

    Sticky wicket here, boss.

Great results in my opinion. The 2 golds are very unusual and noteworthy.

    Congrats.
