1863 Copper-Nickel IHC for my Registry Type Set

SkyManSkyMan Posts: 9,493 ✭✭✭✭✭
Here's an 1863 Cu-Ni IHC for my Registry Type Set. It's a minor variety, RPD FS301 S2. The coin is slabbed as such by PCGS, and is graded MS 64. The images are by Bob Campbell, and I think he did an excellent job.

Nice coin. I don't see the doubling...unless it is under the 3.

"The 1863 re-punched date is somewhat of a minor variety but yet considered scarce since few examples have been reported. The most evident re-punching is on the 3 digit towards the inside portion of the serifs. Towards the inside of the 3 serifs there are some minor rounded long curvatures displaying the re-punching of the date."

The TrueView appears to be the same as the OP coin.

CN Indians can be quite appealing every once in a while, and yours is such a coin.

I really like the brick-red color, it's attractive.

You can see the doubling quite well on the Coinfacts pic.....it shows on the 86 as well.

    Very pretty coin.

It's still kills me they didn't use the Indian head Cent obverse instead of Alice Paul on the Chester Arthur first spouse coin. image
