NT/AT question for the Buffalo folks

Hi all,
First of all, I have always enjoyed the beautiful toned Buffalos that have been posted here. I look but just don't find anything the caliber of some of the finds posted here.
a couple of years ago I purchased an 1936-D Buffalo with what I thought was interesting toning. I submitted it to our hosts and of course it came back questionable color.
What struck me when I bought is was the stark contrast in obverse to reverse colors. The obverse is mostly a pale blue/ice blue that I have seen on nickels before. The reverse, however, is red or magenta with some greenish under the buffalo head.
I guess my question is any ideas how this would tone like this? The gentleman I purchased it from is a fixture in the local club and I do not believe him to be a coin doctor.
Pictures below. The reverse is fuzzy but shows the color well. The obverse color is not quite captured .

Any thoughts appreciated.
George
