Why did the mint decide to reduce the size of the gold mercury dime? and then the gold SL quarter?
This smaller size makes me feel as if I am holding one of those miniature coins (that were made by the Franklin Mint) in the 1970's.
How I wish they were made the actual size of the dime and the quarter. I would have had no problem with paying more for these coins (because the additional gold needed).
(If the mint decided to make the SL quarter the size of a half dollar or a dollar it would still have held up with the details of the design).

But the mint (in their wisdom) takes a coin like the Buffalo nickel and blows it up to a one ounce size in gold. The details on this coin do not really work well with the blow up.
What are they thinking?

Smaller size makes them easier to smuggle out of the Mint.
