I agree. I was thinking that myself, though not sure what one I'd acquire - kind of partial to a particular liberty nickel time frame version. I'm trying to keep myself flexible!

If you don't collect them it seems like a good excuse to buy one!

I love em but haven't bought one yet

Now a whole box of 20 patterns - that would be something!

I totally agree and would love to have one in my box of twenty, but...

I am afraid the really neat ones would be priced out of my realm. image

I like the idea. I've got broad interests across numismatics, which is one of the things that makes the box of 20 idea so intriguing. A box of 20 bust halves or Lincoln cents? Eww.

I've got several pieces that would qualify for the broader definition of pattern in my Box of 20.

Well, I had to open this thread, and I had to click through to your box of 20. And you really pissed me off for few seconds when I misread your domain name as "theelecttrumpgroup.com". Not that you're not entitled to your own opinion, of course.

You are missing the point Dimepuppy. Multiple boxes of twenty with no rules on what they may contain. Your imagination is your only limitation.

Yes! I'm really into Large, Indian head an Lincoln cents. I added a 1855 flier large cent pattern to my collection as the coin that never was, dang, but should have been, IMO. It's a little smaller in diameter than a large cent too. Variety is the spice of life they say, right. And it didn't smash the bank in PC MS 64. The 1854 seems twice the price in that grade although slightly different relief and minuscule features, so the 55 will most likely be it for me.

So yeah, I think a pattern in whatever series your into would be a perfect addition to a set. As far as a box of 20 that's another deal entirely.

Whenever I consider the box of twenty concept, a repeating thought is "that's what it will look like if I ever get out of the hobby" I'd still have 20 gems tucked away no matter what...

I definitely have one in my box of 20, and whenever I find an 1855 Large Flying eagle pattern again, I will replace this one with it.

That is what is great about the "Box of Twenty", you can put whatever you want in it!

I would not mind getting ahold of a "pattern" coin.

It's your Box of 20. Put whatever you want in there that makes you happy.

Still, at this point in my life there is no way I'd go for a box of twenty. I've got way too many coins that I've collected over the years that I enjoy. Heck, the year set I'm currently working on, 1858, has 29 coins in it alone.

Here's the Pattern in my box of less-than-20.

It would take something special to dislodge it!

I love my Walkers, commems, 19th Century gold and Libertas items. However, I also have some unique treasures that could form an esoteric box of 20. That would give me a good excuse to add a favorite pattern.

I like patterns, too, but never enough to own one.

However, I still think it's a good idea to include one in a box of 20.

It would give it depth, variety and rarity, as most are scarce.

Nice work if you can get it.

Only patterns I'll be able to afford are Darkside.

But yeah, Darkside or Liteside, a pattern would be nice in a B20.
