Actually, there are a lot of PCGS samples not in Dave's book - you should be reading the threads right here on the forum on PCGS Samples.

Yea. You would expect him to have to update with new issues from time to time, but seems like as soon as he sends the book to print, some oldies pop up.
This one arrived today - older style holder, 1961-D Roosy in a 1961 Holder. I'd rather have the Doily.......

Here's the latest sample from the Long Beach Coin Expo... these are only given to kids who do the YN Treasure Trivia Hunt at the show and not every one of them gets this one. There are a few different coins given out each show and each YN ends up with a couple. Sometimes they are the latest shield cent samples, sometimes they are state quarters, sometimes something even cooler!
If you photoshopped that face w/o the name and asked people to guess who it was, there would be few correct replies!

I agree, that is pretty bad.
And I thought this thread was all about the holder and not the coins
But yeah, I don't think the Mint will be winning any awards for that one this year. That's what happens when folks choose the design based on a pencil sketch that has lots of shading and detail that can never make it to a real coin.
