When Jerusalem was looted the "booty" was used to pay for the building of the Roman Coliseum. A sign outside, which still exists, has holes in it which originally held brass letters that indicated it was built with such funds. The Nero aureus in the article may have indeed been lost at the time Jerusalem was being looted. The aureus was worth 25 silver denarius coins and was equal to about a month's pay for a Roman soldier of the period.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
Very cool! It's worth about $6-8K, depending on the condition of the reverse.
I like your Boscoreale example better, Smeagle.
But yes... very cool story.
PS- because Mount Vesuvius' ash toned your Nero aureus, and "heat induced" toning is AT, I guess it would get "questionable color" from a TPG?
