For anyone eying these lovely ladies, the uncirculated Harding has 4 coins left, the uncirculated Hoover has 9 coins left. By my estimate, final mintages would be:

Lou Hoover unc: 1,929
Forence Harding unc: 1,939

Eleanor Roosevelt unc, also a 2014 coin is still the key at 1,886. The 2014 Grace Coolidge ended up at 1,949 coins.

Are these lower mintages? Not sure why we should care, seriously? Not trying to be a wise guy.

    Duplicate post ... sorry.

In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

Florence Harding was known as "The Duchess," and it was not a compliment. She was a nasty social climber who made Warren's life hell. Given the fact that she had Warren looking outside his marriage for female solace, perhaps he would have been happier had Florence been "unavailable" after her divorce from her first husband.

With all of the people in American history who have done great things, why did the mint or Congress or whoever decide to honor a group of women who often did little more than marry well, at least on paper?

I always wonder if the low mintage gold spouse brought down the Jackie gold commem from its highs in the $4000s to a $1000.

Fun fact: Lou Henry Hoover was proficient in Chinese and Latin. The Hoovers would converse in Chinese to foil White House eavesdroppers.
