At the B & M today.......

Several discussions on the internet evolve around our hobby and HOW to encourage new members.

Today, I purchased three silver rounds. Yes, just bullion, but oh so bright. Oh so shiny. ....and....the subject matters include:

SUPERMAN
Sal*****er Crocodile
SPIDER

What better way to grab the interest?

I challenge each of you to do the same. Find a subject matter on a coin within the current interest of a kid in your life.

For me, it is our grand daughters. They may be very young, but these will be included in their discussions in the near future after receiving and for several years afterwards. Bet on it.

I agree with your methods. FIRST, you have to capture the attention of any new numismatist before you can ever hope to gain their interest. Nicely done! image

Copper rounds may be a more inexpensive way to introduce them. Great subject matter out there and less expensive in case they dont get interested in numismatics.

    Yes indeed!

I really like wildlife and have a particular fondness for crocodiles and this is somewhat reflected in my collection. I have several coins- some bullion- that feature these reptiles.

Have a handful that illustrate the amazing "S**lties" :-)

The silver rounds are a good way to get youngsters interested in coins...I have done that on birthdays for kids in the family....Cheers, RickO

    I love the 3 P's: PB&J, PBR and PCGS.

That's nuts that it censors salt-water crocodile without the hyphen.

There is an off-color "word" inside salt-water that it is deleting. The software is not perfect, obviously.
