Or just mark it as sold works to.

Been there, done that. It was particularly annoying when I had the system notify him/her 5 or 6 times, and they STILL didn't remove it.

Quick emailed picture of both sides of the slab to the Registry Gods cleared it up quick....

Years ago I sold a coin on eBay and the buyer contacted me saying he couldn't register it because it was already registered and asked that I remove it.

Problem was, I didn't register it.

So I contacted PCGS (Gail) and it turned out somebody took the cert number from the listing and put it in their set. She slapped his wrist and removed it.

This was before they had their "What If?" option where you can put in a grade to see how it affects your set (the guys story)

I only remove an item when I have confirmation that the new owner has received that item, they are pleased with that item and keeping that item. But I also communicate this with the buyer so that there is no misunderstanding or frustration.

A couple of months ago someone bought 2 PCGS coins from me on Ebay with a BIN listing. I first found out that the person had bought the coins is because he tried to add them to his Registry Set as soon as he had finished paying on Ebay. I saw the notifications from PCGS that someone was attempting to add 2 of my coins before I noticed the Ebay messages that he had purchased the coins. And he kept repeatedly attempting to add them to his Registry Set so I got like a dozen emails from PCGS in the span of a few minutes. I sent him an Ebay message that I would remove the coins (mark them sold) from my Registry Set after I had shipped them.

Another story... Over the past couple of years, I've noticed a handful of Ebay auctions where the seller obscures the cert# from the auction pictures. I once sent the seller an email asking why he does that. He responded so no one can add the coin to their Registry Set from the auction listing. I interpreted that as misplaced paranoia. I've never heard of there being an issue with people adding cert#s to their Registry Set from Ebay auctions to "win" the Registry Set "game."

When I consign a coin for sale, I mark it as sold, for multiple reasons. I'm not sure what the reasons are. Might be so a black cat doesn't entangle itself in my hair. Or a black squirrel.

I ran into this few times when I tried to put pieces on the PCGS registry, and it seemed like I had to fight city hall to get the coins accepted, so I just gave up. If you run into this ATS, the previous person is responsible to defend their position. If they don't, your coin is posted within a few days.

Whenever I sell a coin in my registry coin, I delete that piece immediately. That is the right thing to do.

I'm referring more towards if you consign to an auction.

When there's no doubt you'll be selling it, mark it sold.

I can see the eBay stories above being an annoyance to you sellers.

The coin in question isn't going into a registry set, just into the inventory.

    It'll get straightened out eventually.

I don't know about getting cerification numbers from eBay, but I do know that people have posted coins to the NGC registry that they didn't own. Instead of a "slap on the wrist" they were banned from the registry. That's what should have been done to them.
