Possible error on 2016 silver eagles?

3 2016 Silver Eagles all have an identical crack coming from the rim, through the date up to about the middle of Libery's skirt. I can't figure out for the life of me what caused this? Any ideas?
Thanks!

that makes a working hub with the crack (raised)
that makes a working die (recessed crack)
that makes a coin with a raised crack on each coin made by
that working die ?
Or something like that.

Do you remember when and where you purchased them?
I ask because I posted the link back in Feb. when govmint.com had the $16.95 sale per order of 10, with free shipping.
I, as well as other members, bought LOTS of them, as the special ran for several weeks.
Never examined any, just made sure there were 10 in each padded bubble mailer, then tossed in the safe. (still need more tubes!)
COOL FIND!

it looks like a very long die crack,
going up almost 50% of the coin.
If so, it's the longest Die Crack I've
seen on a ASE - and there should be
more of 'em, if more rolls are searched
across the country (or from that one
distributor)
The best one to find would be a rim-to-rim
die crack, indicating a fully cracked die, and
then maybe even a split die, like many of the
dimes from 2002-2007 or so.
Very Nice Find !

I purchased mine in San Antonio TX. I have 9 left . I sold 3 for 500 back in August.
She will need a tetnis shot. Very cool find
HAPPY COLLECTING
Wow! That is strong money for them. Congrats for getting them graded and labeled as errors.
Split skirt
Very cool. That die could have been on its way to splitting. You don't really see this with ASE's. They should bring a nice little premium

Definitely a good find. While common bullion coins may not have much premium for die cracks, ASE are really more than just a bullion coin to quite a few. AAA+

I have not heard much about this after the initial reports... seems they were limited and interest quickly waned. Cheers, RickO

RickO, the only reason things have been
'quiet' about these is that no more have
been reported.
There should be at least a few hundred of
them out there, if not more, in unsearched
tubes that investors have.
As I said a few years ago, this is a very nice
thick die crack - and would have led to a
dramatic split die if it were allowed to continue
to mint ASE's.
Poor die prep. A huge crack like that on softer silver doesn't happen often. If more don't show up, the assumption can be made that the die was pulled early.
Of course, that's too early to assume.

I must check my stash of 2016's

ya know i like the looks of that. its all good
I agree. Cool find.wr me know if you still want to sell one. I love these types of errors!
Nice error.....it won't take me long to check my stack because I won't have a crack because I lack a stack.
I remember when these were first reported. My cousin, an investor, had purchased a couple of monster boxes of the '16's. When I read the article about these being found I contacted him about looking through the boxes but he has no interest in doing so.
Truly. Please consider selling. I honestly will pay top dollar and we can use Fred W to be the holder and sender.
