Jefferson Nickel Variety Of The Week - 1953-D/D Inverted D (FS-501)
Let's take a look at one of the three Inverted D's in the Jefferson Series. The 1953-D/D sits along side the 1946-D/D and the 1958-D/D. I place the 1958-D/D to be the toughest, with the 1946-D/D next followed by the 1953-D/D. The Pops are not too high yet, but I think they will grow. The 1946-D/D has been around a while and don't think too many more will hit. I feel the 1958-D/D will be the big one.
One pick-up-point that many folks don't know about on this variety is the long die crack that runs vertical next to the second window on the right. All the 1953-D/D's I've seen have this marker. Don't be fooled without it!!

Inverted MM's and horizontal MM's are significantly harder to find than a run of the mill S over S or D over D. The 42 D over horizontal D in 65 Full Step can bring 30k. Laugh all the way to the bank with your Heritage check if you find one.
