    Not a chance!
Though I've heard they exist for all the Seated denominations,
I have yet to see a "potty" engraving on anything other than a Trade dollar.
That would be tougher than an all-CC set!

Here are a couple of twenty-cent piece potty coins ... the only two I have seen.

Neat page on the 20c potties, Lane. I believe you were a big contributor to the Delorey article on love tokens in this February's COINage magazine, yes?

I would love to find a pictorial engraving on a 20c piece I could afford, potty or not!

Here's a terrible reshoot job of the half dime by yours truly.

Not such a great job with the focus and it came out looking a little brighter than reality, despite my not using a flash. But it's not so brown as the seller's pictures.

Here is a comparison of the two bad sets of pix. The truth lies somewhere between the two.

    My bad pix:

So a Trade dollar joins the flock. It has some tiny ticks and scuffs which in my opinion are totally consistent with a circ in this grade and are toned over, and therefore completely acceptable to me. Also noted is a rim hit at 2:00 on the reverse.

I solicited TDN's advice before going for this one, and he deemed it authentic, said the rim bump might give it 50/50 odds for a straight grade at a TPG (which might or might not happen later- it's fine for my Capital Plastics holder right now), and he agreed that the toning is very nice for a circ.

That toning of course was the selling point. Despite the rim bump and a slight glitch during the eBay negotiations, I am of the personal opinion that this one has dead-bang perfect CircCam toning, and I had to have it. Sure, it's the most common date- despite the seller calling it a "RARE KEY DATE" (sic)- haha- but it's got "the" look!

    So that just leaves...

The 20c piece (have a couple watchlisted but no firm prospects- that will likely be the second-to-last purchase for the set).

The half dollar (I have my eye on one, but some eBay sales will have to happen before I go for it.)

The Seated dollar (I'm not even really looking hard at those yet. That will almost certainly be the last hole filled in this set.)

Really scraped the bottom of the barrel and shook the piggybank empty to make this Trade dollar happen, so it's time to list some more stuff on eBay and go back to scrounging for funds. Such is the story of my hobby.

    I like that trade dollar!

It's just temporarily in the forefront of my attentions, that's all.

The remaining Seated dollar is gonna slam on the brakes pretty firmly and force me to cool my jets for a while, I fear.

Take your time and find the right seated dollar, it'll be worth the wait! image

    Nice set to put together.

    I love the designs.

I agree about trying to find examples of all of the different mints.

Yes, I intend to try to get all four mints.

Abandoned my idea of going after low-mintage dates with under 500K mintage, at least for this attempt.

I'm after the "crusty" or "CircCam" look first and foremost, but mint variety second.

Will probably replace the dime Chumley gave me with an 1875-77 CC dime to represent Carson City.

I just do not see myself finding an affordable CC 20c piece or Seated dollar with the right look, and though a CC half is possible, most of the halves I've liked have been O-mints, which of course I still need to represent.

I'd love to find a CircCam 1875-CC dime with the mintmark above the bow. For some reason I like those above-the-bow mintmarks.

    So now it's half-dollar time.

    image

    Obverse (500x500) ~ Reverse (500x500)

This covers the New Orleans mint.

So to cover all four mints (P, O, S, CC), I can switch my S-mint dime to a CC-mint piece (when I find one I like- which I haven't, yet). Then I can pursue the more easily obtainable dates for the remaining 20c piece (1875-S) and Seated dollar (1859-'60-O No Motto or 1871-'72-P With Motto).

I can't believe I've blazed through this little set in a month's time to get five of the seven, but those last two will be slower going. The Seated dollar is likely to be the very last addition.

When I get my new camera setup (by mid-September, hopefully) I look forward to reimaging these myself. In hand, they aren't quite as varied as they seem in the assorted images in the OP. Once they're all done with the same photography setup, they'll look a little more uniform (though subtle variances in color and such will still be there, of course).

This was always intended to be a relatively short-term sideline to enjoy until I finished it and later swapped or sold it to finance a nice addition to my Box of 20.

Well, that day has come, sooner than anticipated. Only a month in, but 71% complete, I have swapped this set and the holder.

Something I've always wanted just popped up outta the blue on Darkside BST.

I made an admiring comment, but that was all.

But then that seller PM-ed a willingness to barter (I love coin folks who'll barter with me), and so I crunched some numbers and found this 71% complete, 5-coin Seated set was just the right amount for an even swap.

    So it is done.

I'm looking forward to seeing my newp (it's off to PCGS before I even will), but I did have a lot of fun with this short-lived diversion and may conceivably try it again one day.

I will definitely miss that Trade dollar, though...

So close and yet so far...one has to go where their heart leads them to suffer the consequences.

Verycool Liberian cent! Looks like win-win for both parties. The SLD fits right into the group.

Nice job on that Seated buck, TBE! image

Now you just need to find a nice CircCam 20-center and perhaps switch out the dime for a CC coin!

Your group shot of the coins in the holder shows how much better matched the set is in hand than in the motley assortment of recycled sellers' photos I used above.

I'm looking forward to seeing the Liberian, but it will be a while yet, as it has been detoured to PCGS via piggyback on another member's submission, mostly for the sake of getting it TrueViewed. It was cracked out by my piggybacking partner before the crossover journey, so hopefully I won't lose a grade point in the process. But that was a risk I was willing to take.

After 169 years, it would be pretty dormant indeed! image

(Assuming the coin was ever actually in Liberia. Weren't these struck in the UK or at Philadelphia? I'll have to read up on them.)
