Any ideas what is this?
Seems to be the same diameter and thickness as the real Pan Pac $50.
Extremely heavy.

Looks like mine is the crude knock off.
Ugly, but in an interesting way.
It is kind of sad to consider that this year was the opening of the expanded Panama Canal and there is no such similar celebration to commemorate the event. (The goal had been to match the expansion's completion to the 100th Anniversary of the Canal's original opening, but labor strikes intervened.) Here is mine:
I think I have a total of 3 of the medals, 2 which are in the case.
All I have seen in the last few years is your knockoff and various other kind of knockoffs. There are a couple on Ebay for sale now.
Which makes me think that the original medals from Coke are not as plentiful as some have said.
Here is one of them unedited.
I have also been able to purchase the 5 ounce silver bullion pieces that were made maybe 10-12 years at a reasonable price as when I do see them come up for sale they sell at a very high premium over silver prices.

I recall those being around in the 1970s, but I don't know who made them, when they were made or how many were struck.

Thanks joebb21 for posting yours. I did some comparing and noticed a few differences.
Is yours reeded?
I can see the font difference on the obverse.
Also, the wavy hair details and on her chest plate mine has hair detail difference too.
Then I see the difference on the date.
The obverse feathers on yours has less detail and the tail is missing.
Also the face detail is not the same along with the chest feathers that go all the way up on mine where yours has lines.
