Would you keep it because the market is too high or buy a card?
If you would buy a card(s)that you think will appreciate over the long haul which would you pick.
To keep it simple you could pick $500/$1000/$1500.

I'm not good with appreciation.
If I had around a grand+?
I would've bid on a Fisk RC PSA 9 for my HOF set.
Not too intelligent as you mentioned as I would probably have the luck of pulling a min size one.

What's a dollar?
Valid question, hopefully someone can respond without snark.
I'd be going for GOAT/superstars whose RCs haven't exploded yet outside the big 4 sports. Hard to believe 70s RCs in PSA 8 for ~$200. There are still a lot of good buying opportunities even in this bull market on both singles and unopened.

I agree. I think the Henderson RC and Ozzie Smith RC are pretty good buys and reasonably priced compared to all those other HOF's cards going nuts. IMO, both Ozzie and Rickey are more than just HOF's. They are icons and changed the game in their own ways.

The United States dollar is the official currency of the United States and its insular territories. It is divided into 100 smaller cent units. The circulating paper money consists of Federal Reserve Notes.
I don't think anyone specified US dollar.

I'd also consider unopened (and keeping it unopened!).

Wait, I thought he meant these:
Wonder if the Sakic Topps PSA 10 will ever take off? Super tough card. If it ever becomes a $5,000 card I'd sell mine in a heartbeat since I didn't pull it out of a pack.
I would consider looking into 1940 Superman cards, particularly the high number cards (or card number #1). I've been collecting and following this set and it is extremely popular and that popularity is growing. I'd either buy one high grade high number or several very low grade high numbers.
Surprised the Frank Thomas error hasn't taken off yet. You can get something in the $1,500 range there.
Thinking outside of the box (and keeping it collectibles related), I would consider going another route altogether in investing. For me, as I've said before, I deal with antiquarian books. It's very easy to turn $1,500 into $5,000 in as little as a year - then re-invest that and make $15,000. There are lots of people doing this. So, if there are other collectibles you're interested in other than sports cards, there may be opportunities to make sound investments with them. It just seems, to me, that if one didn't "invest" in sports cards a few years ago then the ship has sailed, but who know, I've never been really good at making money off sports cards.
Best of luck.

A NNOF for $1,500, where?
Has it already taken off? Not long ago you could get a low grade one in the $1,500 range.

I would consider the 1964 rose. First card of him alone. With the crazy prices the rookie is going for, the second year is sure to follow. Psa 7 can be had for around $500. Psa 8 for around $2000
Along this same line of thinking but with non rookie HOF stars. 56 Clemente 7, Aaron,Mays 8, Koufax 7, maybe a Kaline or Banks 8
55 same idea maybe a grade or 2 less except Clemente

I think PSA 9 Rickey just boarded the celestial starship. Better hurry.
The most recent sale of a PSA 9 went for over $2k. Absolutely nuts. It had the PWCC 'high end' label attached however, so I suppose it's justified. /sarcasm
Looking for 1970 MLB Photostamps
- uncut
Positive Transactions - tennesseebanker, Ahmanfan, Donruss, Colebear, CDsNuts, rbdjr1, Downtown1974, yankeeno7, drewsef, mnolan, mrbud60, msassin, RipublicaninMass, AkbarClone, rustywilly, lsutigers1973, julen23 and nam812, plus many others...
If I had 1500 to spend I would get myself a nice psa 7 68 topps Nolan ryan. then with the rest I would get a Henderson psa 9.
That would cost you $2600-$3000 at the moment. They both went up
I'd pick up the one card I really need for my collection: a 1971 Topps Steve Garvey PSA 9. That'd use up the allotted funds right there.
is that all that its going for? i do remember its a relatively low pop. awesome card with the black borders and the crisp white dodger uniform. also, he was my childhood hero....id def buy more if its just over 1k...great card, great taste
