Very cool to see the sweat that went into our money. Do you think the workers were paid in coin, or at least had the option?

Neat video.... I wonder if they swept and reclaimed the filings from the large ingots?

    Cheers, RickO

Pretty sure they did/would. I thought I read some where that the canvas bags used for gold would be burned to recover the gold dust/filings. Bob

The width of that strip ain't no dime, unless the US Mint was insanely inefficient. Gotta be $0.50 cent piece, MHO

edit - the basket dump is not dimes

edit edit - DCarrs press is probably in this vid, maybe

epc ... you may be right about Dan Carr's press being used.

I didn't think of that. That would be way cool. Bob

Interesting how slender the workers are. Same with photos and film of WWII soliders. In general people are much heavier yoday.

My 88 year old mom says the thing. Coming from a farm background, everyone was skinny, bacon and eggs breakfast was standard, today, it's unheard of.

I would say that the pictures near the end showed a variety of denominations being blanked. The basket dump looked like halves, whereas the blanked strips being stacked look like quarters to me. However, I will not swear to either.

The fact that the blanked strips coming out of the blanking mill were chopped off at regular intervals was new to me. It would make sense that they would do this to make it easier to recycle the webbing back into the furnace, but I just never heard it mentioned anywhere.
