Got The Elusive SLQ For My "Art Deco" Showcase

UMCaneUMCane Posts: 213 ✭✭✭
For the record, I'm building a complete 1792-1964 type set in a series of "Showcases" All MS, 62 or better, and CAC when affordable. I scorded this 1930-S Standing Liberty Last week to complete the Art Deco series:

Nice one. The 29 and 30 s mint have some great luster and more care was taken in minting them than most other years.
MS66 taste on an MS63 budget.

Other than the 1917s, the strikes were just awful. Those are plentiful in high grades and very nice head detail. Like you said the 29 & 30 are a level or two above all previous years, and are scarcer to boot.

Where is this set located so we can see them all?

That's a beautiful SLQ that's deserving of the FH designation.

Love the satiny frost and caramel toning.

I am not an SLQ collector, my knowledge is limited, but in another series would not the nicks on her right leg, gown and right breast not affect an MS66+ grade? No question it is a beautifully toned coin and I congratulate you on a great pickup for strike.

No love here for a 66+ with 3 noticeable hits on the obverse, and splotchy pea soup green toning.

I hear you and the marks, especially the one on the right breast gave me pause. But we all need to work within our budgets, and this series is especially tough on collectors. I can tell you that "in hand" the pea soup is much less distinctive.

Cheers, its a great hobby, preserves history, allows you build a great legacy

I think if you blow any quarter up to the size of a dinner plate......there will be some imperfections.
