I think this is right on. I can't really speak of the people that were banned since I've only been a member for I think around 3 (ish) years but I know personally there are times when I feel like posting something and actually change my mind because I don't want to be torn to pieces by someone who thinks my thread is dumb, repetitive or simply disagrees with me.
I should also note that I would post tons of pics of my collection if it were easier (without having to create Flickr, photobucket etc.. Account). I wish I could just upload a photo from my computer!!

LOL. I almost posted when this thread first started that the board is boring because Nikklos hasn't posted his rips in awhile, I live (rip wise) vicariously through you.
True there used to be alot more activity but I'm not bored of this board at all. Enjoy checking when I can for new topics and clicking on any that interest me.
the board needs more drama....heard Laura left Larry for Lucious and oh did the you know what hit the fan......there, more drama, and all over a measly PSA 3 Mantle RC
Jim Parker referred me to this discussion board a few months ago. I began collecting in 1969 and I was fortunate to have been able to participate in the "organized" part of the hobby having worked for a dealer at monthly meetings and shows beginning in 1975 as well as in a card store beginning in 1987. Though I had to wave at most of the items that came in, I didn't get paid a lot of money but gained lots of knowledge, it was a dream job while I was in college. I left collecting in 1991, got rid of what I had and vowed to move on. A friend of mine who collects inspired me to begin collecting again in 2013. Though I make far more money than I did when I had ready access to the cards at the shows and the store, grading and the sums that cards from the 50s - early 70s now sell for preclude me from purchasing them. Instead, I have concentrated on collecting the Heritage cards; it gives me the flavor of the cards that I had been exposed to at relatively affordable prices. I skip the autographs and relic cards as they don't excite me and it saves some money.
Here's a suggestion, could the topics be broken down in smaller groups? For example in discussion boards related to cars topics are broken down into production series or models/styles. As a Heritage collector I feel a little awkward posting a want list next to postings for vintage PSA graded cards. In the past threads have been created for certain cards and topics. Could that be implemented on this site where discussion issues could be broken down and categorized even further? For example, a subgroup for newer cards or for the Heritage issues that is on-going rather than one that fades away once a particular year is replaced by another. Yes, it could be tedious and perhaps it may not garner a greater participation rate, but it could be worth a try.
I have a question since I am here. Is there any way to delete any of my prior postings? The other morning I made multiple postings (I didn't read the rules; I know better for next time.) I would like to reframe my requests into one posting in order to follow the established protocols. Thank you.
Stay logged in when posting and you'll have a 'delete' button along with the reply/quote options on the bottom right corner of your post. I know the delete button well
On the topic you mentioned, if bringing in conformity and more rules, I'd be out. (no comment from anyone on that please )

I'm not suggesting more conformity or rules, I thought that if the topics were broken down or categorized in a more specific way, then participation may increase (well hopefully anyway.) For example, with the Heritage cards a thread develops for a specific year then peters out. I thought if there was a general Topps Heritage category then it would be easier for those who are collecting those cards easier access. Just a thought and thank you for your comment and suggestion on how to eliminate a post.
There are some cool Heritage specific threads here, which could really have its category, along with your idea of breaking it up more. I guess it comes down to meeting the needs of all the different personalities etc here. Which I don't think would be possible. Am sure though many agree with the approach of a more refined topic breakdown.
mrmopar, see my first post a couple months ago. You're a little late to the party. The boredom had set in the day this thread was started Things though have picked up Note that many folks are blind to the fact they are the instigiators of churn, although think they're innocent.
Its the difficulty posting pics and having to watch what you say in any meaningful conversation with the risk of getting banned. Otherwise its a great board with some remaining great people.

With the lower volume of posts it almost seems there should be fewer catagories. I would rather just scroll through all sports card related posts without changing tabs. No need to separate vintage versus modern. Sometimes I find threads are interesting to me that I stumble upon in other categories. Let's make it easier to navigate. I would even dare says throw the buy sell trade in here as well. I am probably minority in this opinion, but grow tired of the "you posted in the wrong category accusations" Some seem overly sensitive to this in my opinion. Would make it easier for new posters to jump in.
I keep reading that it's difficult to post pics, but I'm not sure why. I'm mostly computer illiterate and I find it easy.
Well, it's not really difficult as I and others have said. It's just so easy to do on Facebook that the extra three steps (uploading to computer, uploading to site like photobucket, posting code on forum) seems like so much more work

I don't know what you mean. "Vintage" and "modern" are not separated. They're both under the sports card and memorabilia category. Are you thinking of net54?

What have you been up to?
Did you sell off your 78T set?
A lot of familiar faces you knew are long gone.
Mike!!!! You still drilling teeth? lol Good to see you!
Since my crazy graded '78 Topps and raw Heritage days I had two more kids to make it four and moved from NJ to FL. Ive been busy. I actually stopped by to see if there would be any interest in that set. I just kinda sits there. Have not done anything with it since 2007.
Only a few look familiar. I saw perkdog and a few others. The only constant in life is that everything changes.
DanBessette, there are seven subcategories under the sports card and memorabilia tab including a vintage sports trading category all its own. I am not referring to 54. Most people probably don't even see it. It is a ghost town. Many of these subcategories get posts once a week or less. Why not put them all under one umbrella. I think that would stimulate conversation. I am not saying they are not important, on the contrary, I would be more likely to get involved if I didn't have to go tab surfing and spend 5minites posting a picture. I am glad you think it is a breeze to post pics, but I assure you it is not for most newcomers. Why do you think there are constant questions on how to post a picture?
