Semi White Whale Landed: '71 Munson

The 1971 Munson is one of my very favorite cards of all time. Not really at the level of a true white whale, but close. It became clear to me over the past several years that a PSA 8 or better example was not in the cards for me, so I made it a mission to find a PSA 7 that I would really be happy with.

I had to pay in the upper price range for a 7, but I expected that. And I'm very pleased with the results. I like this one better than most of the 8s I've seen.

Paul that is a super sweet Munson and a card that anyone would be proud of. What a great player and one that should be in the hall of fame.

Fantastic pickup! '71 Munson is one of my favorites as well. I settled for a 7 OC for my '71 set. Everyone knows how tough it is to find this card so nicely centered. Congrats - just a beautiful card.

Thanks! I got the idea that a super nice 7 would be realistic after submitting a bunch of '71s I was sure would be 8s and getting 7 on almost all of them. PSA is so tough on this issue that really attractive 7s are out there.

Dave - real nice looking "7". Enjoy the card.

High end for the grade. You might even try reviewing it for a 7.5., or even a straight 8.

That's better than any 71 Munson I've seen, 7 or otherwise. Really great pickup. I shall have to be content with my decently (for this one) centered 6! image

Very nice card but it's a Chuck Dobson card for me.

    Just awesome.

I need only Munson for my 71 Yankees set.

Looking for a 7 as 8's are to much $ for me as well.

Great looking card. I really love the look of the All Star rookie cards, in almost every year.

Semi?? Dude I'd like to complete that set myself (with all HOFers/CL's as PSA 7's) and that's one of the top dogs in that set! It'll be a long long time before I'll get that far so don't sell yourself short on picking it up. Congrats! image
