I have my eye on the bent 1968 Lincoln cent. There's no way that could've happened anywhere but the mint!!

You could tear a 1/2" strip off of a phone book page, fold it in half lengthwise to a 1/4" wide strip, thread it down the dime slot of those big old gravity fed public phones and trip the switch that gave you a dial tone. Not that I'd know.

My wife got one in change last year
Back in the 80's sometimes I would find NZ or Australian 1-cent coins in dime rolls - also perfect for slugging payphones.
Hate to admit this but my father had a great workshop and we could turn out pennie dimes at about 4 an hour. We used them at the local swimming pool to buy frozen ice creams for a "dime". Circa 1955.
