1876-CC Seated Liberty Dime F-110 RPD question

I had recently come across a thread on another forum regarding a DDO 1876-CC Seated Dime. I did a search on eBay and came across a few, then I happened to find this neat RPD which turns out to be a F-110 Top 100 Varieties. I put a watch on it and may have bought it, but the coin had damage on in it. It sold pretty quickly, and now I'm wondering if I had stumbled onto something that maybe I should have bought.

My question is, is this a tough to find variety and was the asking price of $47.00 a steal? I didn't buy it because I really don't know anything about this series, and the damage to the obverse and reverse stopped me from pulling the trigger.

Gerry Fortin's estimate of the rarity is R5 = "31-75 known Very Scarce, a few examples will appear at large shows or auctions across a year".
His estimate of the "Suggested Premium" is 200-400%.

It seems the main question for this specimen is how much would it be discounted for
the damage (hit at T in UNITED, and reverse rim cut at 9:00).

Hmmmmm, I would have passed. Don't have a Gennie in my box.

I'd have done $47 for that CC and put it in the 7070.

Thanks for the info guys.. I'm not kicking myself for having passed on it. As I said in my original post, the only thing that precluded me from buying it was the damage on the obv. and rev.. Had it not had the damage I would have pulled the trigger pretty quick. But at least I know what to keep my eyes out for now. Thank you.

I think it would be tough to sell it at a premium price with the rim cut. It was probably a break even deal or maybe just slightly better. Now that you know how to attribute this variety, keep your eyes peeled for a really nice one and you'll forget all about this coin.

This coin is not a DDO, I simply stated that while looking for a DDO on eBay, I came across this RPD.

Not being a seller of coins, I would have purchased that one for that price. I like the date and the CC mint mark. Cheers, RickO
