Newp Wreath Cent

Just picked up my first Wreath Cent, I believe it's an S-9? My knowledge of this series is limited, but I really like the look of it, and thought at $1,200 it was a good pickup for the price. Obviously not problem free, but I think it's a respectable example of this type. What do you guys think? Any comments or opinions would be appreciated, thanks.

I like it . I know nothing about these but from what I see out there on the market this one does seem nice. Congrats image

Not a chance you could buy that piece in a public auction or from a major dealer for $1,200. That was a GREAT buy at that price!!! It won't get too many kudos on this board because it isn't "perfect," but PCGS sometimes grades wreath cents with porosity and rim damage. Here is a coin with similar flaws in a PCGS F12 holder.

    Well done!

That's an exceptional piece for the price you paid.

I like it's character, and it would make a welcome addition to many a collection I believe.

I don't collect them, but I would have grabbed it at $1200

A great buy at that price point!
Anything I've seen priced anywhere near that level has had far more damage, wear, corrosion, etc.
I shopped for a good two years, before settling on one in 'genny' holder, that I thought was a good deal at $1600 - and I like yours even more.
Mine is the R4 Lettered Edge though, so it's a tougher variety.

Thanks for all the replies! I never thought I'd own one of these, so I just never pursued them before. Glad I pulled the trigger on this one though, it's the next best thing to owning a Chain Cent. It also feels pretty amazing to hold this coin raw.

Miles better than mine, since don't have one yet.

Think you did great for the price, the full devices and legends

more than compensate for the surface granularity, which, despite some roughness,

looks very hard and wholesome. Pleasantly un-messed-with appearance!
