It's the 1938-D/D PCGS58 with pretty colors (to me).

Comments welcome.

I don't recall seeing circulated Buffalo Nickels with nice color like that.

Whoever sent it in thought it was MS and spent extra for SP and TV and variety.

    Looks greasy. I like it.

It has an interesting look that I like. Do you think it has an improper alloy mix given the line going from the right rim around 4:00 o'clock through the Native American's mouth, exiting the feathers and leaving the coin around 9:00 o'clock?

Pretty Buff. I especially like the obverse.
The bitterness of "Poor Quality" is remembered long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.

Finally got to see it at the house, the work computer filters out a lot of imaging sites.

    Nice looking Indian Head Nickel!

This just reminds me of the number of au58 buffs i see on ebay that are offered as unc or even gem bu. so easy to tell but so many people do not seem to pay attention.
and for that reason the sellers will continue to offer slider au as choice or gem bu.

Definitely AU... but still a nice coin... not sure what has contributed to the tarnish on this one... looks very different from most buffs... Cheers, RickO
