I'm not inclined to believe the sellers claims...

sellitstoresellitstore Posts: 3,053 ✭✭✭✭✭
....that these are unsearched and not put together and rolled in old wrappers. One has a CC on one end and an 1889 on the other. The second roll has a BU Morgan on one end and a seated dollar on the other. And they want several multiples of common dollars values as a start.

What do you think?

The links do not work... however, I would not believe that story.... not on ebay...not anywhere unless I had personal knowledge of the situation. Cheers, RickO

I assume everything on Ebay has been searched.

any unsearched roll claims should be viewed with skepticism. people that believe in such listings will be disappointed 99.999% of the time. no one sells $100 bills for $20 anymore

Your links don't work. It's a common Ebay scam and within the rules for sellers to create rolls of junk but salt the end coins to suggest something much better in the roll. Evidently naive people keep bidding on these auctions thinking they're going to get a roll of expensive coins.

Sorry about the bad links in the O/P. I fixed them and they work now.

These "unsearched" rolls are of the machine wrapped "shotgun" type, so they must have been wrapped by the bank years ago. image

It seems that a couple of gamblers bid these up quite a bit, $5000-$6000 for the two rolls with BP. Good luck.

1889 Morgan obverse on one side and a "CC" reverse.....classic Santa Claus roll.

Now a BU Morgan obverse and a scrubbed VF seated reverse is beyond moronic.

Not again!! You see these every once in a while. Scam of course. Easy way to make money-just print up some wrappers and do your own thing. No way to prove genuineness -Just gamble-- open them and you can't return them-- what a gimmick. You lose 100% of the time. Still there are new suckers born every minute.

We've instituted a policy not to accept sealed rolls like this for our auctions - too many uncertainties.

    I'll come up with something.

For those rolls to be original with the coins in them for many decades, wouldn't you expect the coins to be toned, especially from the paper? Fake rolls is my opinion.

One may not even need to print up wrappers.

I've accumulated many old unused ones from estates that I have bought over the years.

I don't think that I have any dollars ones with the names of prominent Western banks, nor the device to create the rolled ends, but these could be found.

I guess it's like the dealer who sells wheat cent rolls with an Indian salted on the end. The other 49 will probably be 1940s-50s wheats.

Unless you have the opportunity to examine all the coins in a roll or at least see a scan of the front and back of each coin with it stated "the item in the picture is exactly you would receive" I would pass. I do not believe their claims period......

Request a photo of all coins in the roll both front and back......If its such a great deal why are all these beauties hidden?

anyone that believes there exists unsearched rolls of anything should have their head examined. anyone that expects to find untold riches in these rolls should jump off a bridge or a very tall building as you are diluting the intelligence of the human race
