Just a reminder....

Long story short, I shipped a coin via Reg mail today with insurance for $1800.00. I asked the clerk if she got the insurance on there. She said yes. Got home and was $18.00.....

Check all receipts foo proper insurance amounts before leaving the Post office. Make sure they are correct. I went back and they fixed it for me.

Good reminder. A slip of the decimal.

One day last winter I bought 10 bags of coal for $78.50.

Paid with a debit card, receipt was correct.

Checked my account the next day and $785.00 was deducted. image

I called the store and they had noticed it.

They didn't think they had that good of a day and blamed the fat fingered owner.

They credited back to the card but it took a day or so for it to show up as credited.

As luck would have it, some checks were coming home to roost at the same time and were bouncing. image

I called the bank and explained the retail error and they covered the checks and no penalties.

I've never worked in a store

Don't know how the receipt can be correct but the wrong amount charged. image

I advise private insurance from Hugh Wood with the gold coverage for shipping. Peace of mind when shipping packages of value and it pays for itself quickly with the increase postal insurance fees.

That seems pretty fishy. I have worked in retail a long time and the only problems I have seen is a double charge due to technology problems such as when a processing system goes offline and then comes back up with a series of transactions to process.
