PCGS 'Walk Through' grading at coin shows

When PCGS does walk through grading at a coin show do they actually do the grading at the show? - - - - or do they send the coin(s) to Calif for grading and then send them back to the show to be picked up by the submitter? What is the normal turn-around time for such walk-through grading?

How much extra is charged for the 'walk-through' service?

Grading is done at the show. Turnaround time varies a little but it will always be at the show if you submit before the announced deadline. Very early submissions are often one day turnaround.

Costs? $125 for coins valued below $100,000. There's also an "express" show grading, 4 hour turnaround, $250.

    More info here.

A collector friend of mine claimed to have a room at the local hotel hosting the show- right next to PCGS. He went to take a midday nap yet found himself
constantly awaken by a clanging sound next door. At the time, he wasn't aware PCGS was in the room next door.

Apparently coins were being graded and then slabbed and it was the slabbing machine sound that destroyed any hopes of a snooze.

I always thought coins were graded perhaps in a conference room close to the PCGS table (behind curtains), but what do I know.

About 10 years ago it to a couple hours to get my stuff graded at Long Beach, however the last few shows there
the line was a lot longer............But these days..........I really don't know

In my experience, the $125 one-day turnaround typically is a two or three day turnaround and the $250 four-hour grading service takes one full day.

I wish the crossover special, don't pay unless it crosses, would return.

Last I did was a drop off on Thursday mid morning and it was available for pick up early on Saturday morning....easy peasy!

it would seem to me that i would rather put $250 towards a nice coin. but to each our own & fwiw.

As you may imagine, people tend to use the $250 tier on very expensive coins and/or on coins where there is time urgency (such as when you have a customer ready to buy it right now, and you want to finalize the deal ASAP).
