Sold a silver dollar recently that had some toning/tarnish across the obverse. Noted this in the auction.

Got the following feedback after the transaction was completed.

" beautiful coin after I cleaned it "

Nothing a brillo pad could not fix. Just love it when a transaction ends well. Congratulations to both you and buyer.image

Imagine getting a notice from Ebay that I have to pay "cleaning charges", or refund the customer. It could happen.

I had nearly the same thing happen a couple of years ago. Someone bought a set of silver art bars that had wild toning from me(and paid a premium for the color) then emailed me and told me they look even better after he dipped them. Go figure.

There are lots of YouTube videos about how to clean your silver coins. Very cringe-worthy.
    I love the 3 P's: PB&J, PBR and PCGS.

Heart breaking for tarnish collectors....depending on the method, could now be virtually destroyed...Cheers, RickO

amazing what some people do with nice things.
  • Another one bites the dust. Some people should not be allowed to purchase any thing that has numismatic value... or food.

I turned down selling a BU Franklin Half set this past weekend due to the dealer telling me he was going to clean them because blast white Franklins sell better than toned ones!

I like to rub them with Bar Keepers Friend. Leaves a nice matte finish! image
