How are US coin designs perceived in other countries?

Some foreign coins seem to have more intricate designs than our current circulating coinage.

The US won the 2016 Coin of the Year and Gold Coin of the Year. The link also has winners from other countries so you can compare them.

Comments I received while living in other countries, indicated they were impressed with the Walker... not so much with Rosies, Washies or nickels/cents...Cheers, RickO

The Walker looks to be inspired by the sower from French coinage.

When I lived in France, I carried an Ike as a pocket piece. They found it to be enormously interesting (pun intended) but impractical.

Some older commems and patterns are the best competition in the world coin area.
